Ensemble Nobiles was founded in January 2006. Its five members met when they were members of the famous St. Thomas’ Boys Choir in Leipzig – the choir conducted by J.S. Bach several centuries ago.
Their repertoire ranges from mass settings of the late medieval period to contemporary works, and in particular the work of the Romantics such as Schubert, Schumann and Mendelssohn – all composers associated with the city of Leipzig.
They have received several awards including the first prize in the German National Choir competition in 2014. Their latest CD Be Welcome has just been nominated in the “Best Classical Album” section of the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARA). Winners will be announced in April.
Their Brisbane program will include a sacred first half including music by William Byrd, Josquin des Prez, Francis Poulenc and Hugo Distler, and a secular second half including music by Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann and Edvard Grieg.
Come early to enjoy complimentary wine and cheese from 6.00pm.
