Devine & Co.

DeVine and Co. from Birmingham, Alabama was born out of a collaboration between Matthew DeVine (guitar) and Aaron Goldberg (bass) when they were asked to put together an act for a small music and camping festival in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The two had played literally hundreds of jazz performances together throughout the years, but this occasion reawakened them to the songs of the Grateful Dead as vehicles for creative improvisation and musical fun. They soon recruited Jordan McElroy (guitar) and Clay Alligood (drums) into the fold to create a quartet of powerhouse players that quickly morphed into an actual band. Although the Grateful Dead’s catalog was their touchstone, their sets currently include music by many other artists, as well as an ever-expanding batch of original material by the group.
